Tierra del Fuego National Park is Argentina's southernmost national park, spanning the beech-forested mountains and fjord coast of Isla Grande between Ushuaia and the Chilean border. The Lapataia Bay at the park's western end marks the terminus of Ruta Nacional 3, the highway that begins 3,079 kilometres to the north in Buenos Aires, and the spot is marked with a symbolic sign widely photographed by road-trippers completing the drive. Beaver dams — built by North American beavers introduced in the 1940s — are visible throughout the valley floors.
