A town in the upper Sacred Valley supporting an extensive Inca ruin complex on the ridge above, which includes agricultural terracing, ritual baths, and a temple aligned with astronomical events. The Sunday and Thursday markets in the village plaza below are among the most active artisan markets in the Cusco region. The ruins are reached by a footpath from the valley floor or by road to the ridge level.
