Cradled by steep glacier-carved walls at the far end of Banff National Park's most famous valley, Lake Louise is fed by Victoria Glacier and owes its signature jade-green colour to dissolved glacial rock flour. The lakeshore promenade offers a straightforward western-facing view with the Victoria Glacier as backdrop, while the Plain of Six Glaciers trail climbs above the lake for elevated perspectives. Dawn and overcast conditions minimise harsh reflections on the water's surface.
