Sagada is a mountain municipality in the Cordillera highlands of northern Luzon known for its hanging coffins — wooden caskets affixed to limestone cliff faces as part of an ancient Igorot burial tradition still practiced by some community members. Echo Valley below the town concentrates the most accessible cluster of hanging coffins, and Sumaguing Cave requires guided descent through chambers of stalactites and underground pools. The town sits at roughly 1,500 metres elevation and produces the cool-weather vegetables and fresh arabica coffee that supply neighbouring Baguio.
