A fishing town and ferry port on the western tip of Flores, Labuan Bajo is the principal gateway to Komodo National Park and one of the fastest-growing tourist hubs in eastern Indonesia. The surrounding bay is dotted with small forested islands and offers sunset panoramas that have become a defining image of the Flores coast. The town's waterfront has expanded significantly as a base for liveaboard dive vessels, day boats to Komodo and Rinca islands, and overnight stays before or after the national park.
