A Hindu sea temple perched on a rocky outcrop just offshore on Bali's southwest coast, Pura Tanah Lot is one of Bali's most visited religious sites and an iconic photography subject at sunset. The temple becomes an islet at high tide, when ocean waves surge between it and the mainland, and the silhouette of the shrine against a gold and orange sky is among the island's defining images. The surrounding clifftop area hosts additional smaller shrines and terraced gardens.
