A well-preserved ancient trading port on the Thu Bồn River, Hội An's Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Japanese merchant houses, Chinese assembly halls, and French colonial buildings exist in close proximity along lantern-lit lanes. The town is particularly celebrated for its monthly Full Moon Lantern Festival, when electric lights are switched off and the streets and river glow with silk lanterns. Tailors, artisan workshops, and covered market halls line the lanes of the historic quarter.
