Khao Sok National Park is one of the oldest rainforests in the world, estimated to predate the Amazon in floristic diversity, located in Surat Thani Province inland from the Andaman coast. The park's interior is punctuated by dramatic limestone karst formations that rise above a canopy of dipterocarp forest. Cheow Lan Lake, a large reservoir created by the Ratchaprapha Dam within the park, is bordered by submerged forested hills and karst towers and is navigated by traditional longtail boats. Wildlife includes tapirs, leopard cats, and the Rafflessia kerii, one of the largest flowers in the world.
