Cheow Lan Lake is a large reservoir within Khao Sok National Park formed by the Ratchaprapha Dam on the Klong Saeng River. Limestone karst towers hundreds of metres tall rise directly from the water surface, a landscape that has drawn frequent comparisons to Halong Bay in Vietnam. Floating bungalows anchored in sheltered coves allow overnight stays on the lake, and early morning mist creates photographic conditions of considerable quality. Guided night kayak and forest treks are operated from the floating accommodation.
