Kodaikanal is a hill station on the southern edge of the Palani Hills, Tamil Nadu, situated at approximately 2,133 metres and centred on an artificial star-shaped lake created in 1863. The surrounding plateau holds patches of shola forest and grassland, with several viewpoints — particularly Pillar Rocks and Dolphin's Nose — offering precipitous drops into the valleys below. The town receives cool temperatures year-round and functions as a retreat from the intense heat of the Tamil plains.
