Bikaner

Bikaner is a walled desert city in northern Rajasthan founded in 1488 and known for the Junagarh Fort, which was never captured in its entire history despite several sieges. The fort's interior contains a remarkable succession of palaces built across four centuries, decorated with lacquerwork, glass mosaic, and carved sandstone in styles ranging from Rajput to Art Deco. Bikaner's old city contains some of the finest havelis in Rajasthan, built by wealthy merchants whose trading routes stretched to Central Asia and Europe.
