Udaipur

Udaipur is a lakeside city in southern Rajasthan, built around a series of artificial lakes — primarily Pichola, Fatehsagar, and Udaisagar — ringed by the Aravalli Hills. The City Palace, a six-century accretion of Mewar royal buildings in white marble and granite, rises in terraces from the eastern bank of Lake Pichola and forms the city's dominant visual element. The view from Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace on the hill above the city over the lakes, rooftops, and surrounding hills is one of the classic Rajasthan panoramas.
