The Valley of Flowers is a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, a glacially carved valley at roughly 3,500 to 3,600 metres that bursts into an extraordinary display of alpine wildflowers during the monsoon months of July and August. Hundreds of species of Himalayan flowers, including rare orchids, brahmakamal, and poppies, blanket the valley floor against a backdrop of snowfields and waterfalls. The valley can only be reached on foot via a 17-kilometre trail from Govindghat.
