Doha's reconstructed traditional market occupies a site at the junction of historic trade routes in the old city quarter, its labyrinthine lanes built or rebuilt in traditional Qatari architectural style with exposed timber beams, rendered mudbrick facades, and covered passageways. The souk is home to spice vendors, falcon traders, textile merchants, and a large concentration of restaurants serving regional cuisine. The falcon market, one of the last of its kind in the Gulf, remains a working centre for the traditional sport of falconry.
