A group of four restored historic houses in the Msheireb district of Doha, each converted into a museum exploring a facet of Qatari social history. Their themes include the story of enslavement and its abolition, the discovery of oil, the life of a prominent family and the growth of the neighbourhood itself. The old courtyard houses have been carefully preserved amid a redeveloped downtown quarter. Together they offer an unusually candid look at the country's past, addressing difficult subjects alongside celebrations of heritage.
