Built in 1675 during the reign of Imam Bil'arab bin Sultan Al Ya'arubi, Jabreen Castle is considered the finest example of seventeenth-century Omani palace architecture, distinguished by its painted wooden ceilings, decorated plasterwork, and intricately carved stonework. Unlike purely defensive fortifications, the structure reflects palatial functions with audience halls, a library, and residential suites arranged across multiple storeys. The castle was used as both a seat of governance and a centre of learning during the Yaruba Imamate.
