Al Wathba Wetland Reserve

A protected reserve approximately 50 kilometres southeast of Abu Dhabi city, Al Wathba encompasses shallow saline lagoons that attract breeding and overwintering flamingos in large numbers, alongside dozens of other waterbird species. Boardwalks and viewing platforms allow observation from close range without disturbing nesting colonies. The reserve's hypersaline conditions and surrounding sabkha flats create an otherworldly landscape of crystalline salt formations.
