Covering roughly 225 square kilometres southeast of Dubai, this protected reserve encompasses sweeping red-sand dunes characteristic of the Arabian interior. Arabian oryx, reintroduced after regional extinction, roam alongside gazelles and sand foxes within its boundaries. Dawn and late afternoon light are ideal for dune photography, when long shadows accentuate the sculptural ridgelines and the sand glows in warm amber tones.
