Aggtelek National Park protects the Hungarian portion of the shared Aggtelek-Slovak Karst karst system, containing over 1,000 caves in a limestone plateau straddling the Slovak border. Baradla Cave, the longest stalactite cave in Europe accessible without technical equipment, extends for 25 kilometres and features concert chambers in vaulted sections where acoustics are exploited for regular musical performances. The cave's temperature remains a constant 10°C throughout the year.
