The Seven Rila Lakes are a chain of glacial lakes at elevations between 2,100 and 2,500 metres in the Rila Mountains, each named for a distinctive physical characteristic — the Teardrop, the Kidney, the Twin, the Trefoil, the Fish Lake, the Lower Lake, and the Upper Lake. The circuit trail connecting all seven takes roughly three hours at a moderate pace, with clear views across the lakes' varying shades of turquoise and blue. Cable cars from Panichishte serve the lower reach, reducing the elevation gain considerably.
