Montreux

Montreux sits on the eastern shore of Lake Geneva in the canton of Vaud, sheltered by surrounding hills that create a mild microclimate permitting the growth of Mediterranean vegetation along the lakefront promenade. The town is internationally recognised for its annual jazz festival and for Chillon Castle on the lake below the town. The lakeside corniche walks toward Vevey pass through the Lavaux vineyards with continuous views across the water to the French Alps.
