Oeschinen Lake lies at 1,578 metres in a glacial cirque above Kandersteg, enclosed on three sides by the limestone walls of the Blüemlisalp massif. The intensely blue-green water sits against snow-streaked cliffs and avalanche debris fans, offering compositions available from the lakeshore or from the hiking paths that circle it. The lake is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site within the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch zone.
