Polis Chrysochous is a small inland town near the northwestern coast of Cyprus at the edge of the Chrysochou Bay, serving as the gateway to the Akamas Peninsula and the starting point for most inland routes to the Baths of Aphrodite. The town contains the archaeological remains of ancient Marion, a city-kingdom that traded copper and wine in antiquity, with a site museum displaying finds from the extensive tomb cemeteries. The sheltered bay beaches north of the town at Latchi harbour are among the more tranquil coastal settings in western Cyprus.
