Paxos is a small island of approximately 30 square kilometres south of Corfu, with a western coast of striking sea caves and towering limestone cliffs pierced by arches and grottoes accessible by boat. The island's interior is densely covered with old olive groves dating back several centuries, producing a notable extra-virgin olive oil. The three harbours at Gaios, Longos, and Lakka each have a distinct character, from the enclosed channel at Gaios to the sheltered inlet at Lakka popular with sailors.
