Lindos is a coastal village on the eastern shore of Rhodes dominated by a fortified acropolis rising steeply above white cubic houses and a sheltered bay. The acropolis site layers ancient Greek, Byzantine, and Knights Hospitaller fortifications, with the fourth-century BCE Doric Temple of Athena Lindia at its summit offering panoramic views toward the Turkish coast. Below, the village retains a largely medieval street plan with pebble mosaic courtyards characteristic of traditional Rhodian architecture.
