Locorotondo is a circular hilltop town in the Valle d'Itria of Puglia whose name derives from its literally round urban plan, with concentric rings of white-painted cone-roofed buildings radiating from a central church. The town's characteristic whitewashed facades and terracotta-red trullo rooftops visible from the surrounding valley make it one of the most cohesive and photogenic urban landscapes in Puglia. Local Verdeca and Bianco d'Alessano grapes produce a crisp white wine that is the region's own.
