A Victorian entertainment palace set on a ridge in north London, Alexandra Palace commands a south-facing panorama over the whole of central London from a height that rivals Parliament Hill. The building itself, opened in 1873 and rebuilt after a fire just two weeks later, houses a concert hall that still hosts major events. The surrounding park slopes down steeply through formal gardens, woodland, and a boating lake, providing a varied green space used throughout the year.
