A Gothic cathedral in Trondheim, built over the burial site of Saint Olav, the patron saint of Norway, and serving historically as the coronation church of the Norwegian monarchy. Construction began in the 11th century and continued in phases through the 14th century, with the elaborate west facade, carved with figures of saints and Norwegian kings, representing the building's most ambitious architectural feature. It is the northernmost medieval cathedral in Europe.
