A broad north-facing beach on the island of Flakstadøya in the Lofoten archipelago, stretching for roughly one kilometre between dramatic rocky headlands. The beach faces the open Norwegian Sea and is exposed to strong Atlantic swell, making it unsuitable for swimming but a striking landscape in any season. Winter visits when aurora borealis arches above the dark water and snow-covered mountains behind the beach are particularly noted by photographers.
