Grótta is a small tidal island at the northwestern tip of the Seltjarnarnes Peninsula on the edge of Reykjavik, connected to the mainland by a causeway that floods at high tide. A lighthouse at its tip is a classic northern-lights foreground during winter, and the surrounding shallows are rich in migratory and wintering shorebirds. The site is within easy cycling distance of central Reykjavik.
