Old Strathcona is a historic district in Edmonton, centred on a main street of early twentieth-century commercial buildings that survive from the days when Strathcona was a separate railway town before merging with the city. Its brick storefronts and warehouses now hold theatres, bookshops, cafes and a large weekend farmers' market. The area is a focus of the city's arts scene and hosts a major summer fringe festival. Visitors stroll the preserved main avenue past heritage facades.
