This Victorian theatre on Dame Street in Dublin, dating from the 1870s, is known for its ornate cast-iron and glass canopy over the entrance and its atmospheric horseshoe auditorium. Long a home for variety, music hall and drama, it now hosts a mix of concerts, comedy and theatre. Its decorative proscenium and tiered balconies give it a distinctly nineteenth-century character. Between the old city and Temple Bar, it is one of Dublin's best-loved historic venues.
