The observation tower at the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip rises about 350 metres, the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States, completed in 1996. Its pod near the top holds indoor and outdoor viewing decks, a revolving restaurant and a cluster of thrill rides that launch and dangle riders out over the edge, along with a controlled descent down the side. From the decks the whole glittering Strip and the surrounding desert valley spread out below the hotel and casino complex.
