The Faro de Moncloa is a slender observation tower in the Moncloa district of Madrid, built in 1992 and standing about 110 metres. Despite its name, meaning lighthouse, it was designed purely as a viewpoint and communications structure rather than a maritime beacon. A glass lift carries visitors to an enclosed circular gallery near the top, with panoramic views over the university campus, the Casa de Campo park and the distant Guadarrama mountains. It stands close to the Arch of Victory on the city's western edge.
