Legon Botanical Gardens

The Legon Botanical Gardens lie on the campus of the country's main university on the outskirts of Accra, established in the mid-twentieth century for teaching and research. Their grounds gather native and introduced trees, palms and ornamental plants around lawns and a small lake. In recent years they have added attractions such as canopy walkways, paddle boats and adventure activities, broadening their family appeal. Combining plant collections with leisure facilities, they offer a shaded, educational green space.
