Maçka Democracy Park spreads across a valley between the Nişantaşı and Beşiktaş districts of Istanbul, a green corridor amid the dense modern city. Its sloping lawns, tree-lined paths and open terraces are crossed by a cable car that links it to a nearby hilltop, offering aerial views over the greenery. Popular with residents for jogging, picnics and relaxed afternoons, it provides one of the larger open spaces on the European side outside the historic core. Renamed to commemorate civic values, it remains a busy neighbourhood retreat.
