Boramae Park occupies the former grounds of the Korean Air Force Academy in southwestern Seoul, its name echoing the academy's hawk emblem. After the academy relocated, the site was reborn as a large neighbourhood park with lawns, ponds, sports courts and shaded walking paths, keeping a few aircraft and monuments as reminders of its origins. It draws joggers, families and dog walkers all day, and includes a small animal area and musical fountain. Its blend of open recreation and mature trees makes it a well-loved retreat.
