Yeouido Park runs down the centre of Yeouido, a river island that houses Seoul's financial and political districts. Created in the late 1990s on the site of a former plaza and airstrip, it was designed as a linear green corridor blending a traditional Korean forest, open lawns and a nature ecology area. Office workers use it for lunchtime walks while families cycle its paths on weekends. Its northern end connects to the riverside parks along the Han, and the surrounding avenues become famous each spring when their cherry trees burst into bloom.
