Crystal Palace Park in south London occupies the hilltop site where the great glass exhibition hall was re-erected after the 1851 Great Exhibition, before it burned down in 1936. The park is best known for its collection of Victorian dinosaur sculptures, the first attempts anywhere to model prehistoric animals at full size, set around a lake. Terraces, sphinxes and stone balustrades survive from the palace grounds. A concert bowl, maze and small farm add to the mix of attractions.
