The Masjid-e-Tooba, often called the Gol Masjid or round mosque, is a well-known mosque in the Defence Housing Authority area of Karachi, completed in 1969. It is famous for a single vast central dome, some seventy metres across, built without any internal supporting columns so that the whole prayer hall opens up unobstructed. A single tall minaret rises beside the low, wide dome, set within a marble courtyard. Its unusual engineering and clean modern lines have made it one of the most recognisable landmarks in the city.
