This war memorial cenotaph in the Perdana Botanical Gardens honours soldiers who served in the two world wars and later conflicts. Originally erected in 1921 for the First World War dead, it was rebuilt and relocated near the larger National Monument, forming part of a memorial precinct on the hill above the lake. Its plain obelisk bears the traditional inscription to the glorious dead and serves as a focus for Remembrance observances. Set among manicured lawns and trees, it offers a quiet counterpoint to the larger National Monument nearby.
