A municipal gallery of modern art in Dublin, housed in the neoclassical Charlemont House on Parnell Square. It was founded by the collector Hugh Lane, whose disputed bequest of Impressionist paintings is now shared between Dublin and London. The gallery reconstructs the studio of the painter Francis Bacon, relocated in its entirety from London with its chaotic contents catalogued. Irish and international modern art fills the remaining rooms. A stained-glass room displays works by Harry Clarke and other Irish artists.
