This aerial cableway climbs from the Heathcote Valley to the summit of the Port Hills above Christchurch, offering wide views over the city, the plains, Lyttelton Harbour and Banks Peninsula. At the top, a complex houses a cafe, a heritage display on the region's volcanic and settlement history, and walking tracks along the crater rim. The ride and summit are popular for both scenery and the interpretive time-tunnel experience. Clear days reveal the Southern Alps in the distance.
