Established in 1981 in the northern Canberra suburb of Bruce, this campus is the country's flagship elite-sport training centre, built after disappointing Olympic results spurred national investment. Its grounds hold swimming pools, an athletics track, indoor arenas and residential facilities for athletes across many disciplines. Public tours, often led by resident athletes, take visitors behind the scenes and through interactive sports-experience displays where they can test their own reactions and skills.
