Museo Torres García

This museum in the Ciudad Vieja is dedicated to Joaquín Torres García, the influential Uruguayan painter and theorist who developed the school of Constructive Universalism. Its galleries display his geometric paintings, drawings, wooden constructions and writings, along with works by his followers. The collection illustrates his effort to fuse pre-Columbian symbolism with modern abstraction.
