This colonial-era church in the financial district traces its origins to the early eighteenth century and has strong ties to Argentina's independence struggle, having sheltered troops and relics of General Manuel Belgrano. Its Baroque facade and richly gilded high altar survive amid the modern towers of the surrounding banking quarter. Inside, carved woodwork and images of the Virgin of Mercy reflect long-standing devotion. The adjoining cloister recalls the church's role in the early religious and civic life of the city.
