This narrow alley in the bohemian Vila Madalena district is famous as an open-air gallery of Brazilian street art, its walls covered in dense, ever-changing murals. The nickname arose from an early Batman painting that appeared here decades ago, and artists have repainted the passage ever since. Bright works in the distinctive São Paulo graffiti style draw photographers, tourists and design students throughout the day. Surrounding streets of bars, boutiques and cafés make it a lively creative hub.
