Housed beside the Ixchel Museum at Francisco Marroquin University, this museum holds one of the finest private collections of pre-Columbian and colonial art in the country. Named after the Maya creation epic, its galleries display painted polychrome vessels, incense burners, funerary urns and carved stone from the Preclassic through Postclassic periods. A colonial wing shows religious sculpture and silverwork from the Spanish era. The collection is prized for its rare ceramics illustrating Maya mythology.
