This former Jesuit college is regarded as the birthplace of the Mexican mural movement, its walls covered by early works from Orozco, Rivera, Siqueiros and other painters in the 1920s. The baroque building surrounds three arcaded courtyards, and its stairwells and corridors carry some of the most important frescoes in the country. Today it operates as a museum and exhibition hall hosting major travelling shows. Walking the galleries offers a lesson in how art was mobilised to shape national identity after the Revolution.
