This Regency-style mansion facing a leafy square in Savannah is one of the finest English-inspired houses in the country, designed by architect William Jay and built in 1819. Its sophisticated features include indoor plumbing that was advanced for its day, a curving bridge on the second floor, and a distinctive amber glass ceiling. The site preserves one of the earliest intact urban slave quarters in the South, and tours foreground the lives of the enslaved alongside the wealthy owners.
